Why Respected Elk Calling Experts Trust Mile High Game Calls

Mile High Game Calls has spent years building relationships with some of the most respected elk callers, hunters, and educators in the industry.

Corey Jacobsen | Elk101, PEAX & Destination Elk

Tom first got to know Corey Jacobsen through the World Elk Calling Championships.

Years later, that relationship developed into a product collaboration between Mile High Game Calls, PEAX, and Elk101. Tom and Corey spent months refining the PEAX / Elk101 Bugle Tube through phone calls, CAD drawings, prototypes, and design revisions before it became the tube featured throughout Destination Elk.

Corey has also spoken highly of Mile High Game Calls’ Antagonizer Bugle Tube, and his experience as a championship caller and longtime elk hunting educator makes his feedback especially meaningful to Tom.

Paul “ElkNut” Medel

Paul Medel has spent decades teaching hunters how to understand elk vocalizations, behavior, calling sequences, and the meaning behind different sounds.

That approach lines up closely with the way Tom thinks about elk calling. Making a realistic sound matters, but knowing when and why to make it matters just as much.

Tom and Paul first connected when Paul called to learn more about the Mile High Game Calls product lineup. Paul had been following Mile High on social media and especially enjoyed seeing the father-son relationship between Tom and Thomas.

At the time, Paul was looking for a call company to promote through the ElkNut app and was interested in working with Mile High. Tom sent him several calls to try, along with one of Mile High’s bugle tubes. Paul liked the tube, but there was one hurdle: Mile High was only producing flat diaphragm reeds at the time, while Paul was accustomed to calling with dome-style reeds.

The timing didn’t work for a partnership then, but the relationship continued. Mile High now offers several dome-style diaphragm calls, so the door is certainly open for what might happen down the road!

Michael Batease | Elk Calling Academy

Michael Batease has spent more than three decades hunting elk and now teaches calling and elk behavior through Elk Calling Academy.

His approach focuses on practical application in the field, not just learning individual sounds. That makes his perspective a natural fit with Mile High Game Calls and Tom’s own emphasis on understanding elk communication.

Michael is also featured in the video, sharing his experience with Mile High Game Calls products and offering another experienced perspective on what he looks for in elk calling equipment.

Thomas Diesing | Championship Calling & Mile High Owner

Thomas Diesing grew up hunting and calling alongside Tom and has competed nationally in elk calling contests across multiple divisions.

In 2025, Thomas won the elk calling championship at the Mile High Hunt Expo. His calling is featured in the video above, giving hunters another chance to hear Mile High Game Calls products in the hands of an experienced competitive caller.

Thomas is also part of the next generation of Mile High Game Calls, carrying forward a family business centered on elk hunting, elk calling, and continuing to improve the products they build.
