If you’ve watched Destination Elk, Elk101, or followed Corey Jacobsen over the past several years, you’ve probably seen the black PEAX Bugle Tube.
It has become one of the most recognizable bugle tubes in elk hunting. What most hunters don’t know is how that tube came to be.
Before it ever appeared on camera, the design went through months of collaboration between Corey Jacobsen and Tom Diesing of Mile High Note Game Calls. Ideas went back and forth, small details were discussed, and designs were refined. The goal wasn’t simply to put a PEAX logo on an existing bugle tube. Both wanted something they’d be proud to hunt with and recommend to other elk hunters.
This is the story behind that collaboration.
From the Calling Stage to the Drawing Board
Tom first met Corey Jacobsen years before either of them imagined working together on a product.
The two crossed paths at the World Elk Calling Championships, where Tom competed alongside many of the biggest names in elk calling.
Corey had already established himself as one of the sport’s top callers, but Tom remembers something else about him.
“Corey was always really easy to talk to and very complimentary of my calling. He made me feel like I belonged there competing with the pros, even though I didn’t have a call company at the time.”
Those early conversations eventually turned into a friendship built around a shared passion for elk hunting and elk calling.
Years later, that friendship became the foundation for one of Mile High Note Game Calls’ most rewarding collaborations.
Building the PEAX Bugle Tube
By the time Corey approached Tom about developing a bugle tube for PEAX, Elk101, and Destination Elk, Tom had already spent years designing and refining bugle tubes of his own.
The Antagonizer Bugle Tube had established itself as one of Mile High Note Game Calls’ flagship products, and Corey considered it one of the top bugle tubes in the industry.
That gave Tom and Corey a strong starting point for the PEAX/Elk101 project.
Over the next several months, ideas moved back and forth through phone calls, emails, CAD drawings, design revisions, and even 3D-printed prototypes. Small adjustments that most hunters would never notice mattered to both of them.
Tom says the process worked because they approached it the same way.
“Corey was great to work with. We kept going back and forth on the development of the bugle tube, adding ideas and bouncing things off each other. Corey is very meticulous and wanted everything perfect, and so did I.”
That attention to detail eventually produced the PEAX/Elk101 Bugle Tube now recognized by thousands of elk hunters who follow Destination Elk and Elk101.
Destination Elk
One of the reasons Destination Elk has become such a respected series among elk hunters is its commitment to showing the hunt as it happens: the successes, the mistakes, the calling sequences, and the encounters that don’t always end with a bull on the ground.
For Tom, seeing the PEAX/Elk101 Bugle Tube become part of those hunts was especially rewarding.
“I enjoyed hearing all the great callers bringing in elk with a bugle tube I helped design and bring to market. Corey and Donnie have such great chemistry. I love watching them do their thing out there in the elk woods.”
A World Championship Season
In July of 2026, Corey Jacobsen won the World Elk Calling Championship.
For Tom, it was fun to watch someone he had competed alongside years earlier continue raising the bar in elk calling. It also marked another milestone for a project both men had invested considerable time into.
“We designed the best bugle tube on the market, and Corey proved it by winning Worlds in 2026.”
Championships aren’t won because of equipment alone. They’re earned through years of practice, discipline, and experience.
But seeing a product that took months to develop in the hands of a World Champion was a rewarding moment for everyone involved.
The Legend Bugle Tube

Looking Back
